UM Advising Commons

First Year Interest Groups (FIGs)

Since 1993 First-Year Interest Groups at UM have helped students succeed in the classroom, get a head start on their majors, and build social networks that connect them to the UM and Missoula communities. A FIG is a pre-packaged cluster of high-demand freshman courses that you take together with up to 20 of your classmates. This core group usually offers students 9-11 credits of general education courses molded around a theme or major course curriculum.
