Registration Override Form (Expires Feb. 11, 2011)

Use this form to add into a class, override a time conflict, change variable credit and change grade options through the third week of the semester. You may obtain a form from the Registration Counter in Griz Central located in the Lommasson Center or pick up a form outside of Griz Central located in the plastic form holders at both entries into Griz Central.

Adding a Course:

Fill out the highlighted row on the form above and ask the professor to sign you into his or her class. Signatures are not guaranteed. If you are adding into a class that requires a lab, you must receive both professors’ signatures.

Dropping a Course:

Classes may be dropped via Cyberbear through the third week of the semester. If you are trying to drop your last class (AKA Withdrawing from the semester in progress), you will need to speak with the Registration Counter in Griz Central.

Override a Time Conflict, Change Variable Credit, Change Grade Options:

Fill out the box in the bottom right corner of the form. Instructor signature is not required.

Once all signatures are acquired, turn the completed form into the Registration Counter in Griz Central.

Petition to Change Registration (11.2.10-12.13.10)

Use this form from the 46th day  of instruction to the Friday before finals (December 13th, 2010 @ 4:30pm) to A) add courses or change sections, B) change grade options, C) variable credits and sections, or to D) drop courses. This form can be picked up at the Registration Counter in Griz Central or in the plastic form holders located at the entries to Griz Central.

A) Adding a Course:
You must have both your instructor and advisor approve the change by signing this form. Once you have the appropriate signatures, turn the form into the Registration Counter in Griz Central. There will be a $10 fee.   All students are advised to keep the notarized carbon copy until they have received their grades for the semester.

Changing Sections:
Both instructors signatures are required to change sections. Advisor signature is not required.

B & C) Changing Grading Options:
Both instructor and advisor signatures are required. This option is for students who wish to change variable credit or Traditional/Credit-No Credit options.

D) Dropping a Course:
You must have your instructor, advisor and dean of your major approve the drop by signing this form. Once you have the appropriate signatures, turn the form into the Registration Counter in Griz Central. There will be a $10 fee.  The grade for the dropped class will either be a “WP” for “Withdrawal While Passing” or a “WF” for “Withdrawal While Failing.”  Students receiving financial aid who will drop under 12 credits should speak with the Financial Aid Counter in Griz Central before dropping the class. All students are advised to keep the notarized carbon copy until they have received their grades for the semester.

Drop/Add Form (Use from 2.14.11 through 3.28.11)

Use this form from the 16th through the 45th day  of instruction (March 28th @ 4:30pm) to A) drop courses, B) add courses, C) change grade options, D) variable credits and sections. This form can be picked up at the Registration Counter in Griz Central or in the plastic form holders located at the entries to Griz Central.

A&B) Dropping or Adding a Course:
You must have both your instructor and advisor approve the change by signing this form. Once you have the appropriate signatures, turn the form into the Registration Counter in Griz Central. There will be a $10 fee and the class will show as a “W” on the transcript. Students receiving financial aid who will drop under 12 credits should speak with the Financial Aid Counter in Griz Central before dropping the class or run the Satisfactory Academic Progress calculator in Cyberbear (Student Services & Financial Aid > Financial Aid > My Eligibility > Predict My SAP). All students are advised to keep the notarized carbon copy until they have received their grades for the semester.

New General Education Requirements

The University of Montana has updated the general education requirements for the coming academic year. All new freshman will follow the new general education system. Current students and incoming transfers may elect to use either system for graduation.

Remember that a course only counts for general education if  it is listed in the Class Schedule as an approved General Education course during the semester in which the student takes the course.

Change of Major Form

The change of major form can be used to A) Add or drop a primary major, B) Add or drop an option to a current major, C) Add or drop a second/third major, D) Add or drop a minor, E) Determination of a specific governing catalog of identified by the dean or department chair.

If a student is in the Four Bear program, they must obtain a signature from the four bear coordinator located in the Lommasson Center room 269 after the form has been approved by the departments.

This form is applicable throughout the entire school term.

A) Adding or Dropping a Primary Major

To add or drop a primary major, fill out the degree and section fields. Options are not required, but are highly recommended. The approval signature of the dean or chair of the departments are required.  Students dropping their primary majors must add new primary majors. Non-degree student mus apply for admission through the Admissions Office to declare a Major.

B) Adding or Dropping an Option to  a Current Major

In order to add or drop an option to a current major, the signature of the dean or department chair is required. A student must have declared a major first.

C) Adding  or Dropping a Second/Third Major

To add or drop a second or third major, one must fill out the  following fields: degree, major and option (if desired). The signature of the dean or department chair is also mandatory. An option is not required.

D) Adding or Dropping A Minor

To add or drop a minor, fill out the appropriate fields and attain the signature of the dean or department chair.

E) Determination of a specific governing catalog of identified by the dean or department chair.

The governing catalog for a student’s major requirements while attending The University Of Montana is governed by the year that a student is first enrolled UNLESS specified in this section. In order to change  one’s govering catalog, approval is needed in the form of the dean’s or department chair’s signature.

Once all signatures are acquired, turn the completed form into the Registration Counter in Griz Central.
